Mary Beth Halpin is the founder and President of Events By MB and Meetings By MB. She started her career as a meeting planner after graduating with a degree in Art History from Regis College. Moving to New York City and joining the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants enabled her to build the foundation of creating meetings and events. This was a career that would combine her love of culture, travel, food and wine, and adventure. It has taken her across the United States, throughout Europe, and to Australia.
Just prior to starting her firm, she joined the renowned lifestyle and gourmet food company, the Silver Palate. She was responsible for sales in twenty three states to gourmet food shops, gift boutiques, and restaurants, furthering her understanding of gracious entertaining.
Since founding Meetings By MB in 1984, she has worked for many Fortune 500 companies primarily in the financial and healthcare sectors. She worked on Meetings and Events for pharmaceutical firms Glaxo, Hoffmann-LaRoche, Forest Laboratories, and Johnson and Johnson. Financial service clients have included Prudential Bache Securities, American Express Travelers Cheque Group and American Express Incentive Services. These programs took her from the Copley Plaza in Boston to the Ritz Carlton Doubleday, Down Under. She hosted events at venues as diverse as Palais Schwartenberg in Vienna and Beach Bar B Que's in Grand Cayman.
Long standing client, The Modeling Association of America International hired her to manage their annual convention which she did for 21 years. As an Association managed by a volunteer Advisory Council, Mary Beth has been integral to the entire Association Management process.
In 1990 weddings were added to the business mix. She has planned and executed weddings in the Massachusetts Berkshires at Chesterwood Museum and in Maine at Spruce Point Inn in Boothbay Harbor. She's now based in the Hudson Valley focusing on Hudson Valley Weddings, special events and meetings. Local events have been held at venues including Buttermilk Falls and Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. Still her love of travel and exploration will take her to destinations beyond for business and pleasure.
Since starting her career she has been a member of Meeting Professionals International. She served on the host committee for the Professional Education Conference that was held in New York City and has authored an article for "The Meeting Professional", their membership magazine.
